Orange in a Life Jacket.

Materials Required

• 1 Orange

• Bowl of water

Procedure

Drop the orange in the water. See if it floats or sinks.Peel the orange and drop it again into the same water. See if it sinks or floats.

Observation

You should have norticed that the unpeeled orange floats & peeled orange sinks.

Why?

The orange skin is less denser and contains a lot of air pockets so it makes the orange float. Acts just like a life jacket.Whereas a peeld orange is denser and does not have the life jacket! hence sinks.
