Musical straw

Materials Required
- a straw
- pair of scissors

Procedure:
1. Press an end of a straw flat. One of the simplest ways, to do this is to bite down with your front teeth and pull you out the straw your opening. another way to flat, is to rub the straw with a hard article. Set the straw on a desk top and rub the end of the straw with the rounded lower surface of a spoon.

2. Cut the edges away from the end of the flatpressed part of the straw. These angular points are
"reeds" of your instrument.
3. Put the "reeds" into your mouth and to blow through.
Do not make sound on your first attempt: Blow harder.
Repeat after reflattening the straw ot retry after cuting off the edge

For more notes, keep cutting the straw while you keep blowing. you will notice the notes getting higher as the straw grows shorter.

Inference:
This is how reed musical instruments like harmonium and organ work. When you blow the air at the pressed end of the straw creates a high presure and the end vibrates making the air too to vibrate. Vibrating air are sound waves thus producing sound.
